We have all been given a cup to drink and it is the life we have been handed. There are many scenarios here perhaps you had malfunctioning parents or your child is born challenged or dies. Perhaps your cup contains your own handicap or your mates. Maybe some great injustice has happened. Perhaps you're great desire is to marry and have a large family and it has not come to pass for you and the years have drawn late on your life.
It seems the overcoming life accepts it's challenges, honors God and peruses the relationship with God that brings about the promise that He will work all things together for our good. You can choose to not drink this cup. In 1 Corinthians the Lord tells the Disciples they can not drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of the demons. He goes on to tell them whatever they do , do to the Glory of God. The cup of demons does to the glory of self. The self-serving soul will not find real peace. This soul will constantly be in contention with himself and others, jealousy and discord will rule, not love.
If we choose a cup for ourselves instead, it means we have chosen self and self preservation over the Lord. This is not a covenant relationship. A Pastor once told me that we do not go to hell over a single offence or sin, we go because we have chosen to live out of covenant relationship to the Feather God who loves us deeply. We are His creations.
This relationship does not exempt us from realities and hardships of life. It does give us a partner to overcome. A partner with power and gifts to overcome. Believers of high caliber have suffered injustice, betrayal and death. Through it all they demonstrated their devotion to the Father and love for and to people. A rewardable faith. Just check the bible it is full of those stories. The story of Joseph is one of my favorites.
